The day Lady Liberty drew her first breath in New England she started a fire that lit the world with new hope: monarchies were uprooted and destroyed, democracy flourished. America, the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, was conqured by the unquenchable hearts of frontiersmen seeking their Manifest Destiny; nobody could stop them.
America’s firey hearts slowly forgot their love. Bright stars became cold, hearts grew hard, bright banners became faded and grey. Greedy men hoarded money and power: slowly they bled away the vitality of the American spirit. They struck down their enemies and stole from the weak with the same mighty arm that settled the West. Freedom fighters became murderers. Men who should have been heroes became villans. Everything they touched became broken and corrupt.
Americans became terrified. They forgot how to wield the power that they collectively held. They traded their freedom for the reassuring security of a police state. They lost the passion that made them beautiful and unique. They lost their truest love.
Weep for Lady Liberty! Weep for her beauty and the rarity of her aspect!
